A Corporate Leadership Retreat in NYC: Drumming, Silence, and Connection

SoHo Corporate Meeting for women cohort from Boston

8:30AM – Pure Inspiration – Setting the Scene in Chelsea, NY

It’s a beautiful morning in NYC. A cohort of women from Boston is the group I will facilitate today. They have all been through a two-day leadership experience with Leaders Quest and we are their final point of  connection before they head back to Boston on the bus. I am excited. Women’s leadership groups are often rich and rewarding, as women together tend to go deep, really fast. And the theme of the day –  “Pure Inspiration”. Well , that’s our specialty.

Djembe, Hand Pan, and a Moment of Silence

We have djembe drums for all to play, and today I have also brought the Hand Pan, a sound immersion instrument.  This will take us into silence.  Yes.  Today, in the midst of the high-powered rhythm, the women will take a Silence.  Today we will feel the space between the notes of our non-stop day. Today, we will drop into that place of inner knowing and sit with relationships formed, with self and others, and sit with gratitude, inspiration &  joy.

My mission at hand is to make people feel connected , each to themself, and each to the cohort, – to feel potential as unlimited, to understand change as a constant, and to be able to tap into their own essential and unique rhythm within the whole.

11.30am – Post-event: Align the Women and Rock the World!

So we drummed together, and even sang together, and together we took a 3 minute silence and then raised the roof once again with collective rhythm. When Darya Shaikh from Leaders Quest got up to speak, she commented how for two days she had been in her heart and mind, but now she felt also, truly in her body & soul.  Someone mentioned that their company should do this every week  – for rhythm at work, for employee engagement, or for company-wide motivation days.

In completing the work-life-purpose workshop, these leaders will ripple out an expansive harmony and shift in consciousness, to their corporate teams.   The team you nurture is the company you keep!
